Thu 12 Jan 2023Dear Parent/ Carer
Happy New Year and best wishes for 2023!
The Christmas festivities already seem a long time ago. I was extremely proud of the quality of the Christmas performances which this year were of such a high standard. It was lovely to see so many parents attend the performances and celebrate this special time.
New Year Pantomime
The first week of term flew by with M&M Productions finishing off the week by performing Beauty & the Beast to all of the children. This was a traditional pantomime with songs, laughter and audience participation!

The children in Year 4 and Year 6 have recently had First Aid Training with Kavita Butler from Mini First Aid. The children learnt so much and the session provided them with invaluable lifesaving skills. We are keen to equip as many people as possible with these skills and therefore have decided to offer a First Aid session for parents, which will be FREE and available on a first come first served basis. The session will take place on Friday 10th February from 9:10am-11:10am in school. The session will be led by Kavita Butler. More information to follow.
Head Lice
Historically at this time of year there have been a small number of head lice cases in the school. We would ask for your support in regularly checking your children’s hair.

Teacher led clubs will resume on Monday 16th January 2023. Please contact the office if you have any queries.

Whole School Newsletter 9 December 2022
Fri 09 Dec 2022Dear Parents/Carers
The last few weeks in school have been very special. Christmas festivities have begun with the Christmas Fair and Year 3 and 4 performances already completed. I have been incredibly proud of the Year 3 and 4 children, the quality of the Christmas performances this year have been of such a high standard showcasing the talents of all the children involved. It was lovely to see so many parents attend both the performances and the Christmas Fair, where your amazing support raised over £4000 profit to benefit the children in the school.
Christmas arrangements
Festive activities will be taking place throughout the week.
There will be Christmas parties for each year group during the school day.
Party days –
Year 3 - Monday 12th December
Year 4 – Tuesday 13th December
Year 5 – Wednesday 14th December
Year 6 - Thursday 15th December
On party day, the children are invited to come in to school wearing mufti for the whole day. The children will be taking part in games, both indoors and outdoors, so will need practical clothing and a pair of trainers to run in.
Mr Moody, Christchurch Sports Partnership, will be working with each class during the last week of term to instruct them how to correctly use the gym equipment and newly installed exercise trail around the perimeter of the field.
In addition to children wearing mufti on the day of their party, we also invite the children to wear a Christmas jumper into school on the last day of term (Friday 16th). On this day we are also offering a hot Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. You should have reserved your dinner via ParentMail already. Please contact the office if you have any queries.
On the last day of term, Friday 16th December, we invite children to bring in games to play, (no tablets or lap tops please.)
School will finish at the usual time for each class on Friday 16th December and we return on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
Dates for next term can be found under the Calendar section on the school website.
These include: M & M Productions, who tour the country, will be bringing us their version of Beauty and the Beast in the new year - “Oh yes they will!” on Friday 6th January.
Week beginning Monday 16th January where teacher led after school clubs will begin for the term (please note there will be no teacher led clubs during the week beginning Monday 6th February as there will be parents’ evenings this week.)
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Best wishes

Whole School Newsletter July 6
Wed 06 Jul 2022Dear Parents/Carers
06 June 2022
The summer term has been an extremely busy one with so many events taking place including the school disco, sports day, Jubilee celebrations, Parents’ Evenings school trips and the Year 6 Osmington Bay Residential. I would like to thank you for your support during the term in attending and supporting these community events.
Author Visit and Book Fair
During the week of 20th June we held a Book Fair and all the children had the opportunity to work alongside a visiting author. Proceeds from the Book Fair totalled over £1000 of which the school will receive £650 worth of books!
PSHE
Relationships and Sex Education for Years 5 and 6 will take place during the last two weeks in the summer term. A big thank you to those parents who came to the viewings and gave us valuable feedback on the contents.
Year 6 Residential Visit
The Year 6 residential at Osmington Bay took place from Friday 10th June until Monday 13th June. The children’s behaviour was exemplary and a fun weekend enjoyed by all. The residential trip in 2023 will be held from Friday 9th June to Monday 12th June.
School Council Fundraising Fun Day
I have been very proud of our School Council this year, over the last two weeks they have been played an integral part in the interview process of new Teaching Assistants who will join our school in September. They have also met with representatives from Outdoor Exercise equipment suppliers with the aim of installing a Daily Mile track around the circumference of the field.
As a Rights Respecting School we are always thinking of others and ways in which we can help them. For over 10 years we have funded the education of a girl called Agness in Zambia. Not only have we supported her through education, we have also paid for her to have a daily hot meal at school.
The School Council met to vote on how to spend the proceeds of the Fun Day and it was decided that all monies raised will be used to allow us to continue the funding of Agness’ education.
More information can be found on the website in the Newsletters section.
Jubilee Commemorative books
We have received the books to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee from the Department for Education. These have been gifted to children in state-funded primary school across
the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth: A Platinum Jubilee Celebration takes children on a journey through Her Majesty The Queen’s life, with chapters on her family and friends and achievements.
Your child will receive their copy over the next few days.
Online Safety
Please be aware of this website that has come to light recently:
Omegle is a website that pairs random strangers for live text or video chats. It first launched in 2009 and its slogan is “Talk to strangers!” There is an option for adult (18+) content and a section for people aged 13+ with parental permission. Anyone can use the site. Users simply go to Omegle.com and then choose ‘Text’ or ‘Video’ chat and the page states how many users are currently online. Depending on the time of day this can be hundreds of thousands. Omegle markets itself as a great way to meet new friends however has been known to feature pornography and inappropriate content within chats, so it is important that parents are aware of the risks associated with the site.
With children accessing the internet on a range of devices, the job of protecting them from things they may not be ready for online can be a challenge. In recent years, a wide variety of monitoring software solutions have appeared to allow you to see what children are doing online and set digital boundaries. Google’s Family Link and OurPact are amongst some of the best Parental control APPS and well worth considering.
As always, the dates of activities can be found on the school website in the News and Events, Calendar section.
Kind regards
M Partridge
