Governors' Information

The role of the governing body is a strategic one, to establish a strategic framework to clearly define the school’s vision, its key functions are to:

  • Set the aims and objectives for the school
  • Set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
  • To ensure the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources.
  • The Governing Body will continue to develop its role of effectively challenging and supporting the school.

The Full Governing Body meets 6 times each academic year to help guide the overall strategic direction of the school to enable pupils to learn most effectively and achieve their best.  All Governors are also members of at least one committee and these meet regularly throughout the year to discuss their specific area of interest and provide feedback of their discussions at the Full Governing Body meetings.

Much of governors’ work is done through sub-committees.

The Resource, Finance and Personnel Committee oversees the school budget, discusses income and spending and manages all staff related matters.

The Environment Committee has responsibility for the health and safety of the school through regular premises inspections and management of the maintenance programme.
