Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass, a national police and education safeguarding partnership that supports children and young people who may have experienced domestic abuse.

Through Operation Encompass, the police share information with the school, at the earliest opportunity, following a domestic abuse incident where a child has been present, affected, or may be at risk. This enables us to provide timely and appropriate support to ensure the child's safety, wellbeing, and readiness to learn.

The school's trained Key Adults for Operation Encompass are:

• Mr Partridge (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
• Mr Goodlet (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead)
•  

Both have completed Operation Encompass training and are responsible for receiving and acting upon notifications received from the police.

Parents and carers are informed that the school is part of Operation Encompass. Any information shared is treated as highly confidential and stored in accordance with safeguarding, child protection, data protection, and information-sharing requirements.

The Key Adults have provided training and awareness sessions for staff and governors to ensure all adults understand:

• The impact of domestic abuse on children and families.
• The purpose and processes of Operation Encompass.
• How the school can provide appropriate support following a notification.

The effectiveness of Operation Encompass is monitored through the school's safeguarding procedures, with anonymised updates included within safeguarding reports to governors.

The service is free, confidential and impartial. We are here to help families with children and young people aged 0 to 19, or 0 to 25 for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). 

The team and the Family Information Directory can provide information on local childcare, services and activities, and much more! We also offer a one to one brokerage service available to anyone who wants more help finding the right childcare or activities.
