November Whole School Newsletter (including Christmas arrangements)
Mon 10 Nov 2025Dear Parent/Carer 10 November 2025
Preparations for the festive season have begun in school. The fantastic response to the bottle Mufti Day and the generous donations are greatly appreciated, thank you. Arrangements for the Christmas Fair and the year 3 and 4 Christmas performances are underway.
Christmas Fair
We have had some amazing prizes already donated to the Grand Draw. We would still welcome any further donations of raffle prizes from local businesses who feel they are able to help. Also, if you have any new unwanted gifts, please bring them to the school office, they will be much appreciated.
A single book of raffle tickets will be coming home to you. Further books can be obtained from the school office any time up to the day of the Fair and you will also be able to purchase them on Saturday 29th November at the Christmas Fair itself.
We look forward to welcoming children, parents, grandparents on Saturday 29th November 12.00-2.00pm.
Year 3 and 4 Christmas Performances
We would like to give you early notice that the Year 3 and Year 4 Christmas performances, will be held in the school hall, on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th December with a 10.00am start. These performances will last just over one hour if you are required to organise time to attend.
Two tickets will be allocated to each family. Ticket information will be sent out at the end of the month– the two tickets for each family (on the preferred date) will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. There will be a limit of 80 seats allocated to parents per performance. We ask that younger siblings do not attend, as the capacity is limited and children should not be sat on the lap of an adult. Therefore, young children will not be allowed to enter.
Friday 19th December – Christmas lunch and Christmas Jumper Day – children to enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch and are invited to wear Christmas jumpers to school. School will finish at the normal time of 3.15pm.
Thursday 4th December - Year 5 Winchester Science Museum Trip.
Year 5 have booked a trip to Winchester Science Centre on Thursday 4th December 2025. Winchester Science Centre is an interactive science and technology centre with the largest standalone planetarium in the UK. The children will have the opportunity to take part in exciting hands-on science experiences and workshops on the theme of Space, the topic they have been covering in class.

Online Safety Briefing for parents - In school hall 8.45am Friday 14 November
Fri 07 Nov 2025Dear Parents and Carers,
We are pleased to invite you to an Online Safety Briefing on the morning of Friday 14th November at 8.45am in the school hall. This will last around 45 minutes - 1 hour.
As technology continues to play a significant role in our children’s lives, it is essential for us to stay informed about the potential risks and challenges they may face online.
During this briefing, I will be outlining the current online landscape for our children, how we teach online safety at MJS, some of the threats which come with our children’s internet usage and showing you where you can go for support.
It is important that we collectively build a safer online environment for our children. Together, we can empower ourselves with the knowledge needed to navigate this ever-evolving digital landscape.
Our monthly Online Safety Newsletter also provides useful information and latest updates. This is sent out to parents and carers each month and can be found on the Safeguarding page on our school website.
Please be aware that the content of the briefing is quite sensitive and therefore the session should only be attended by adults.
We look forward to seeing you at the briefing.
Kind regards,
Rosie Burton
