Whole School Newsletter September 2025
Wed 03 Sep 2025Mudeford Junior SchooL
Dear Parent/Carer 3 September 2025
Welcome back, I hope you had a great summer. It has been lovely to see the children back in school this week, looking very smart in their school uniform. Please note the school gates will be open in the morning at 8.35am with the classes being lined up from 8.40am.
Numerous works have taken place during the summer holiday including security work to the school grounds. We now have the facility to monitor the site during the evenings and weekends when no one is present on the site. In order to reduce the number of vehicles in the staff car parking area and movement when children are accessing the site, a staff access barrier has been put into place.
PE and Sport at Mudeford Junior School
On the two PE days your child can come into school wearing the school PE Kit as follows:
- Plain navy t-shirt or plain white t-shirt. Or alternatively, plain navy T-Shirt with the Mudeford logo on.
- Tracksuit bottoms (plain black or navy blue).
- Black or navy shorts.
- They may wear their shorts underneath their track suit bottoms which may be taken off during the day.
- Mudeford Junior sweatshirts should be worn during the winter months rather than any other sweatshirts or hoodies.
- Sensible trainers
- Football kit is not to be worn to school.
Hair:
- Long hair (both boys and girls) will need to be tied up for PE and Games lessons for Health and Safety reasons. Please make sure your child has their hair tied back on these days before coming to school or that they have a hair bobble in their bag.
- We do not allow colouring of hair
Jewellery:
- If your child has their ear/s pierced then their earring/s need to be removed before PE lessons. If they cannot be removed, they will need to be taped up before the lesson.
Watches/ Bracelets:
- All watches (including Fit Bit style watches) are to be removed during PE lessons for Health and Safety reasons.
- Other forms of jewellery including wrist bands and bracelets are not allowed in school (see School Uniform policy).

Holidays in Term Time

She has asked us to remind parents that Government legislation makes it clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term times unless there are exceptional circumstances. It is extremely unlikely that time out of school for a holiday will be considered exceptional circumstances. As a school we are committed to ensuring that pupils miss as little time as possible.

If PE/Games is scheduled for that day, can the children please bring in a pair of trainers so that they can participate in Games lessons later on in the day.
Sports Day
On Monday 19th May the children will be undertaking a walk-through of the events for Sports Day and we ask that all children bring in a pair of trainers to change into.

May Whole School Newsletter
Tue 06 May 2025Dear Parent/Carer 6 May 2025
Welcome back to the summer term, as always, this is a busy term. All dates for the term can be found on the school website in the calendar section. Year Group Newsletters have also been sent out with specific information relevant to each cohort, these can also be found on the school website.
VE Day - VE Day stands for Victory in Europe day, a key event at the end of WW2.
This year will be VE Day's 80th anniversary, with lots of exciting events planned nationally from Monday 5 until the anniversary itself on Thursday 8 May. In school we will be celebrating this event on 8 May and will be educating the children about this historic day.
There is also the opportunity for parents to take their children to Christchurch Quay on Thursday evening, 6 - 10pm for the planned celebrations (beacon lighting, fairground rides, music, WWII vehicles etc.)
Other information that can be shared with the children can be found at:
VE Day 80th anniversary: How is it being marked around the UK? - BBC Newsround
School Photographer
The school photographer will be visiting on Friday 16th May to take whole class photographs.
Sports Day for all year groups
All parents welcome to attend Sports Day on Tuesday 20th May - 10:30 - 12:15. The event will last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Warm Weather
It has been wonderful to see the sun out on a regular basis this term. Please ensure the children come to school with sun cream and a sunhat during hot weather. As jumpers become less of a necessity it is helpful if all are clearly labelled so the owners can be easily found.
Wraparound care
Pouncing Panthers have now firmly established themselves as the school’s extended service provider. If you require childcare before or after school, bookings can be made on the day via the Pouncing Panthers website.
Friday Morning Cardio Tennis, Health and Wellbeing Session for Parents
Cardio tennis for all parents will continue throughout the summer term – Friday mornings 8.50am – 9.55am. All Parents of Mudeford Junior School children are welcome, no booking necessary. Just turn up on the day! Ally and Adam will be offering a fun morning of cardio tennis, fitness and fun for parents. Enjoy a morning of great activities, in a fun, friendly environment, all abilities welcome for an inclusive session. These sessions will be FREE of charge.
Spaces in Year 3
Our local authority, BCP, has provided all Christchurch schools with information regarding birth rates and forecasts for school applications over the next 7 years. Birth rates nationally are dramatically falling and this is mirrored in the Christchurch area. This has already resulted in the number of places available in Christchurch schools exceeding demand. Unusually, we have spaces in our current year 3 classes which the school are keen to fill. The school’s budget is determined by the number of children on roll and subsequently this impacts on the provision that the school can offer.
