Whole School Newsletter 17 June
Dear Parent/Carer, 17 June 2024
Open Evening
There will be an informal open evening for all year groups on Monday 24 June between 5.00 and 6.30pm. This is an opportunity for children to bring their parents in to school to look at the work and achievements that their children have enjoyed throughout the year. Teachers will be in attendance. There is no need to book an appointment.
Year 4 Historical Study Ancient Technology Centre, Cranborne
Year 4 Historical Study Ancient Technology Centre, Cranborne We are delighted to have the opportunity for Year 4 to visit the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne on Friday 21st June. The Centre delivers an authentic, hands on experience for the children, bringing to life all the different periods the children have studied during Year 3 and 4; the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, the Romans, Anglo Saxons and Vikings.
Year 6 Transition Day 2024
Transition day for all year 6 children will be on Friday 28 June. Children will be visiting their new secondary schools on this day. Parents will need to arrange transport for their own child.
SAT Tests / End of Year Reports
Year 6 children have completed their SAT tests. We are very proud of how hard the children have worked. Their results, alongside the end of year report, will be sent out in July. SAT tests for Year 6 in 2025 will take place during the week beginning 12 May 2025.
End of Year Reports for all other year groups will be sent out in July with the names of their new teacher for academic year 2024 – 2025.
Year 6 Residential Trip 2024 and 2025
The year 6 residential trip to PGL Liddington took place on Friday 7 June – Monday 10 June and was a great success, enjoyed by all the children and accompanying staff.
The residential trip for 2025 has been booked for Friday 6 June – Monday 9 June 2025. Mr Goodlet has already sent out information. The deposit of £80 for our present Year 5 children is due by Monday 17 June.
Holidays in Term Time
BCP have now allocated an attendance officer to all schools. She has asked us to remind parents that Government legislation makes it clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term times unless there are exceptional circumstances. It is extremely unlikely that time out of school for a holiday will be considered exceptional circumstances. As a school we are committed to ensuring that pupils miss as little time as possible.
Sun Protection
Warmer weather is forecast over the coming weeks, we are concerned that the children have adequate protection from the sun especially during the long lunch break. Could you please send the children to school with: Sun cream Hat Water bottle Thank you for your support.
A date for your diary! – Friday 5th July 2024
The school council have organised our Fundraising Fun Day for Friday 5th July 2024.
1.Children are invited to come to school in ‘sports mufti’ and bring in a donation.
(A suggested amount of £1 – but any contribution is welcome)
2.A sponsored obstacle race will take place during the day, where the children will have 15mins to complete as many laps as they can. Please help your child to collect sponsors using the form provided.
3.There will be the opportunity for children to throw wet sponges at some of the teachers!
(It will cost 50p for 3 sponges and this is always very popular!)
As a Rights Respecting School we are always thinking of others and ways in which we can help them. We have funded the education of a child, Agness, in Zambia for over 10 years, providing not only an education but also a daily hot meal at school. We are now sponsoring Joy - a little girl who is about to start school. Monies raised on this day will be used to provide Joy with a year of education as well as a daily hot meal. Our Fundraising Day is a great opportunity for us to have fun with the children whilst supporting such a worthy cause.
