SEAL stands for Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning. These are the skills children need to develop to become happy and successful learners. Each week the children will cover a SEAL topic which forms part of their PSHE lesson.
SEAL teaches skills in five main areas which are:
We believe that these skills are very important in helping our children learn and to develop positive relationships with those around them.
We would like to build strong links with you as parents to support the development of these skills.
Family SEAL is Fun!
Family SEAL is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the social and emotional skills taught in school. It also provides time to meet other parents/carers and share ideas, as well as taking part in fun activities with your child.
Family SEAL workshops are free, run for 6 weeks and are available to all parents or family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles..etc) of Year 3 pupils. We hope that Family SEAL will be made available to parents of children in other year groups in the future.
Sessions are from 12.45 -2.45pm every Tuesday and include refreshments. The sessions will take place in the new extended services room.
Each workshop consists of:
I hour parent session providing an outline of one of the SEAL themes, opportunities for discussion and practical ideas that can be tried at home.
1 hour joint session where adults work 1:1 with their child on a variety of fun activities.
